About Kate
Kate Dorrough is a multi disciplinary artist based in Sydney, Australia. Throughout her practice she has worked with and around the idea of the landscape, specifically on the River, describing her work as ‘a symbolic essence and a testimony to the ecological significance of water and the river’. With over twenty five years experience exhibiting in commercial and Regional Galleries, selected group exhibitions, prizes and artists residencies. Kate is represented by ArtHouse Gallery, Sydney.
Exhibiting primarily in painting and hand built ceramics her work is a conversation between paint and clay, with its inferred and language of layered painterly calligraphic marking. Her dynamic practice has recently extended to incorporate installations with textile, video and sound components. Kate draws her conceptual basis from literature, theatrical and historical sources.
Her work is held in private collections across Australia, public and corporate collections, including the Art Gallery of Ballarat, Campbelltown, Grafton, Manning Regional Art Galleries and Yirrila Arts & Museum.
